Biography

Cole Quizon is a music educator, conductor, and arts administrator based in Southern California. He currently serves as the Instrumental Music Director at Northwood High School in the Irvine Unified School District, where he manages a comprehensive program of over 450 students across band, orchestra, jazz, guitar, and music theory disciplines.

 

A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, Cole earned his Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music Education, Cum Laude, and his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music, Summa Cum Laude. His dedication to the field was recognized when he was named the CSUF Instrumental Music Education Student of the Year in 2023. He remains closely connected to higher education as a Guest University Lecturer at CSU Fullerton, presenting concrete advice and coaching to pre-service credential students.

 

Beyond the classroom, Cole is a proven leader in arts administration and large-scale event operations. He served as the Co-Director for the CSUF Festival of Winds, successfully managing a massive two-day event featuring 26 ensembles and over 1,200 musicians. Within the Southern California Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), he has been the Operations Manager for their annual conference of 500+ educators and served as the New Teacher Representative to the Board of Directors.

 

As a conductor and advocate for youth arts, Cole championed the creation of a new ensemble within a major regional symphony, serving as the Artistic Director and Conductor for the Pacific Symphony Youth Saxophone Ensemble. Under his leadership, the ensemble organized and performed multiple concerts at the prestigious Segerstrom Concert Hall. He has also served as a Woodwind Coach and Assistant Conductor for the Pacific Symphony Youth Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.

 

An accomplished performing artist, Cole's professional performance credits include recording as the principal saxophonist on the album Effigy - The Music of Brian Baumbush, produced by Other Minds Records. He is an active member of professional organizations, including the National Association for Music Educators (NAME) and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.
